    The 980 series products are module-based platform solutions for R&D functional and interoperability testing and compliance testing. The 980 series offers three platform options and a variety of modules for testing HDMI, MHL and DisplayPort. Please refer to the 980 series Product Selection Guide for a summary of the features and functions of each module.

    Test Platforms

    The 980 offers three (3) platform types:

    The 980 offers six (6) modules currently:

    • 980 HDMI Protocol Analyzer module. The 980 HDMI Protocol Analyzer module supports deep analysis of HDMI and MHL streams as well as HDMI and MHL compliance testing for source, sink, repeater/dongle devices. For HDMI the tool provides full visibility into the HDMI protocol, timing, control and auxiliary data up to 300MHz (HDMI) which supports testing of HDMI 2.0 4K Ultra HD sources at 50/60Hz using 4:2:0 pixel encoding. For MHL the module supports analysis of MHL 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 source devices.
    • 980 HDMI 2.0 Video Generator module. The 980 HDMI 2.0 Video Generator module supports video and audio functional testing of HDMI 2.0 sink devices at TMDS characters rates up to 600MHz for testing ultra high definition HDTVs with 4K x 2K resolutions running at 50/60Hz. The 980 HDMI 2.0 Video Generator module also supports HDMI Forum-approved compliance testing for HDMI 2.0 sink tests at pixel rates up to 600MHz.
    • 980 HDMI 2.0 Protocol Analyzer module. The 980 HDMI 2.0 Protocol Analyzer module supports deep analysis and compliance testing of HDMI 2.0 streams up to 600MHz. The module also supports HDMI 2.0 compliance testing for source devices. For HDMI the tool provides full visibility into the HDMI metadata, timing data, video data, control and auxiliary data up to 600MHz (HDMI) which supports testing of HDMI 2.0 4K Ultra HD sources at 50/60Hz.
    • 980 HDMI Video Generator module. The 980 HDMI Video Generator module supports video and audio functional testing at data rates up to 300MHz for testing 4K Ultra HD TVs at 50/60Hz. The module features two (2) HDMI outputs—both active simultaneously—for testing HDTVs with multiple HDMI inputs. The module also optionally supports analysis functions for testing source devices such as basic video analysis. The module now supports NEW! HDMI 2.0 test features for 1) 4K Ultra HD TVs at 50/60Hz using 4:2:0 pixel encoding, 2) 21:9 formats up to 300MHz and reading and 3) displaying EDIDs with HDMI 2.0 capabilities.
    • 980 DP Video Generator module. The 980 DP 1.2 Video Generator / Analyzer module supports video, audio and protocol functional testing high-end DP 1.2 displays. The module supports HBR2 data rates including 1.63, 2.70 & 5.40 Gbps on 1, 2 & 4 lanes on both its Tx ports and its Rx port. The module features two DisplayPort 1.2 outputs—both active simultaneously—for testing displays with multiple DisplayPort inputs. The 980 DP1.2 Video Generator module is equipped with all the standard video timings and test patterns necessary for testing modern displays. The DP 1.2 module’s optional Rx analyzer port emulates a DisplayPort 1.2 display device including EDID and DPCD emulation, Rx Link Training function and MST Rx function.
    • 980 MHL CBUS Compliance Test module. The 980 MHL CBUS Compliance module provides complete test coverage of the CBUS Link Layer tests, RCP tests and Common tests in the MHL CTS. The module supports the CBUS compliance test for source, sink and dongle devices.
    • 980 HDMI PACA. Introducing the 980 HDMI Phy & Protocol Aux Channel Analyzer module for testing DDC bus compliance. The initial release of the new module supports compliance testing of the HDMI DDC bus voltage and timing parameters in accordance with the HDMI 1.4b Clarification Version 1.04 – May 1, 2014. Future releases of the module will support functional tests and compliance tests on other HDMI auxiliary channels.

     

    The 780 series products are handheld test instruments primarily for installers but also very popular with engineers in R&D as well. They provide basic functional and interoperability testing for HDMI, DVI (single link), analog RGB and component as well as HDBaseT, and 3G-SDI with the new 780C instrument. Please refer to the 780 series Product Selection Guide for a summary of the features and functions of each 780 test instrument.

    There are four 780 models equipped with the smaller touch screen:

    • 780 handheld test instruments. The 780 handheld test instrument for HDMI® is a battery-powered, portable video and audio generator and HDMI analyzer that enables you to conduct quick, on-site verification testing and troubleshooting of your HDMI system and analog video displays. The 780 instrument is equipped with both a reference HDMI source and a reference HDMI sink interface allowing you to test audio, video and HDMI protocols—HDCP, EDID, CEC & infoframes—of any type of HDMI device: sources, repeaters and sinks. The 780 supports HDMI testing at pixel rates up to 165MHz and TMDS rates up to 225MHz for deep color on the output and pixel rates up to 150MHz on the HDMI input.
    • 780A handheld test instrument. The 780A Video Generator / Analyzer is a battery-powered, portable video and audio generator and HDMI analyzer that enables you to conduct quick, on-site verification testing and troubleshooting of your HDMI system and analog video displays. The 780 instrument is equipped with both a reference HDMI source and a reference HDMI sink interface allowing you to test audio, video and HDMI protocols—HDCP, EDID, CEC & infoframes—of any type of HDMI device: sources, repeaters and sinks. The 780A supports testing at pixel rates up to 300 MHz for testing 4K Ultra HD HDMI 2.0 devices at 50/60Hz using 4:2:0 pixel encoding on sources and sinks
    • 780B Video Generator / Analyzer. The 80B Video Generator / Analyzer is a battery-powered, portable video test instrument that enable you to conduct quick, on-site verification testing and troubleshooting of your HDMI system and analog video displays. The 780B supports all the features of the 780A including 300MHz on the HDMI Tx and Rx ports for testing of 4K Ultra HD HDMI 2.0 devices at 50/60Hz, but adds a larger screen (7 inches) for greater convenience in viewing analysis test results as well as a status bar on the bottom of the display for at-a-glance status on the HDMI Tx and Rx ports. The instrument supports testing of HDMI 2.0 devices including tests for 4:2:0 pixel encoding on sources and sinks, EDID emulation for testing HDMI 2.0 sources and distribution devices and tests HDMI 2.0 sinks with 21:9 formats.
    • 780C Multi-Interface Interoperability Tester. The 780C Multi-Interface Interoperability Tester is a handheld digital video generator and analyzer that enables you to run tests on various digital video devices and network distribution devices on site or in the R&D lab. The 780C instrument provides a 7 inch color touch screen for operation and for viewing status of outgoing and incoming video and audio. The 780C is equipped with multiple interface types including HDMI, HDBaseT, 3G-SDI and component analog. The HDMI and HDBaseT Tx and Rx ports operate at 300MHz for testing of 4K Ultra HD HDMI 2.0 devices at 50/60Hz. Testing digital interfaces is supported by both an output port and an input port to allow testing of digital video sources, displays, audio devices and distribution devices. Testing hybrid converter devices supporting 3G-SDI, HDMI, HDBaseT distribution networks is a key application of the 780C as well.
    • The 780D HDMI Protocol Analyzer / Generator. 600MHz for UHD Testing is a handheld digital video generator and analyzer that enables you to run tests on various digital video devices and network distribution devices on site or in the R&D lab. The 780D instrument provides a 7 inch color touch screen for operation and for viewing status of outgoing and incoming video and audio. The 780D is equipped with multiple interface types including HDMI, HDBaseT, and component analog. The HDMI Tx and Rx ports operate up to 600MHz for testing of 4K Ultra HD HDMI 2.0 devices at 50/60Hz with 4:4:4 pixel encoding. The HDBaseT Tx and Rx ports operate at 300MHz for testing of 4K Ultra HD HDMI 2.0 devices at 50/60Hz with 4:2:0 pixel encoding. Testing digital interfaces is supported by both an output port and an input port to allow testing of digital video sources, displays, audio devices and distribution devices. Testing hybrid converter devices supporting HDMI, HDBaseT distribution networks is a key application of the 780D as well.

     

     

    The 804 series products are rack-mount or desktop video generators primarily intended for testing HDTVs in manufacturing but also very popular with R&D. They provide basic functional and interoperability testing for HDMI, DVI (single link) and analog RGB and component. They can be operated either through the embedded touch screen display or through the command line via USB or RS-232. There are three (3) 804 instruments to choose from. Please refer to the 804 series Product Selection Guide for a summary of the features and functions of each 804 test instrument.

    • 804 Video Generator. The rack mountable 804 Video Generator is optimized for testing modern HDMI flat panel TVs. The 804 video test generator supports testing of HDMI resolutions operating up to 225MHz. The 804 is equipped with four (4) HDMI outputs—all active simultaneously—for testing HDTVs with multiple HDMI inputs.
    • 804A Video Generator. The rack mountable 804A Video Generator is optimized for testing modern HDMI 2.0 flat panel TVs. The 804A video test generator supports testing of HDMI resolutions operating up to 300MHz. This enables testing ultra HD TVs with 4K resolutions at 50/60Hz with either 4:2:0 or 4:4:4 pixel encoding. The 804A also support testing with HDMI 2.0 21:9 format resolutions up to 300MHz. Like the 804, the 804A is equipped with four (4) HDMI outputs—all active simultaneously—for testing HDTVs with multiple HDMI inputs.
    • 804B Video Generator. The 804B Video Generator supports testing of 4K Ultra HD TVs up to 600MHz pixel rate. Tests HDMI 2.0 devices at 50/60Hz with 4:4:4 pixel encoding on sinks. Supports testing of HDMI 2.0 EDIDs on sink devices. The instrument also enables verification of HDCP 2.2 authentication with an HDMI 2.0 4K UHD TV at 600MHz.

     

     

    The Quantum Data 882E is packed with features for video and audio testing of HDMI® or DisplayPort sources, sinks and repeaters (HDMI). The 882E can be equipped with either an HDMI transmitter or DisplayPort 1.1 transmitter. The HDMI transmitter provides 12-bit/component deep color and NEW! HDMI 3D testing features. The DisplayPort 1.1 provides pattern testing at pixel rates up to 268MHz. An analog option with 250MHz analog output and composite analog for NTSC and PAL testing is available as well with the HDMI transmitter only configuration.

    The HDMI and DisplayPort options also support an analyzer option for testing timing and video on source devices. Industry approved test tools such as HDCP compliance, CEC compliance and EDID compliance testing for HDMI are available with the HDMI analyzer. For DisplayPort the 882E analyzer option provides test tools for HDCP compliance, Link Layer compliance and EDID compliance.

     

     

    The 802BT is our multimedia video signal generator for testing CRTs, flat panels, projectors and TVs including HDTV. The 802BT is optimal for DTV, digital and analog displays and allows production and engineering users to create the most complex test images. You get the flexibility required to meet a tough production budget with the wide range of outputs the 802BT offers. And a PCMCIA slot makes it easy to copy one generator to another.
