Quantum Data Adds DisplayPort v1.1 Support to 882E Video Test Instrument Lineup
Elgin IL — October 29, 2007 — Quantum Data™, a worldwide provider of video test equipment, today announced support for the VESA DisplayPort interface on their model 882E instrument. This new feature will allow manufacturers of displays and flat panels to bring fully HDCP compliant DisplayPort products to market faster and without interoperability problems.
DisplayPort is a VESA standard-finalized in April of this year-for delivering high quality, uncompressed digital video and audio. The DisplayPort interface is now available for connecting a broad set of products – including PCs, computer monitors, graphic cards, internal display panels, TV displays, projectors, and other sources and sinks of image content. Over time the DisplayPort interface is envisioned to replace both DVI and the venerable VGA interface.
The DisplayPort transmitter (Source) interface is an optional feature of the model 882E test instrument that can deliver blazing fast video at pixel rates up to 268MHz. Future updates are planned that will deliver even higher rates. One (1), 2, and 4-lane configurations are supported at per-lane rates of 1.62Gb/s and 2.7Gb/s. The number of lanes and the lane rate are under user control. Bit depths of 6, 8 and 10-bits per component are supported along with both RGB and YCbCr color spaces. The YCbCr space supports both 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 color sampling.
Quantum Data has leveraged its industry expertise in HDCP content protection in order to provide both basic HDCP production and optional HDCP compliance tests for the DisplayPort interface.
Orders for the DisplayPort interface are being taken now with lead times of four to six weeks. Initially the DisplayPort interface is available only on purchases of new 882E units. Upgrade options for existing 882E instruments and a DisplayPort receiver (Sink) with an HDCP Compliance Test will be available in the near future.
