Approval covers EDID tests for sink devices in accordance with the requirements of the DisplayPort Certified Logo Program

Elgin IL – Sept 20, 2010 – Quantum Data™, a worldwide provider of video test equipment, announced that their 882E test instrument has been approved by VESA for DisplayPort EDID compliance testing. The approval includes compliance testing for DisplayPort sink products against the requirements of the DisplayPort Certified Logo Program which currently uses version 1.4 of the recently approved EDID compliance test specification.

“Developers working to bring new video technologies such as DisplayPort to market require test tools to help ensure compliance.” remarked Bill Lempesis executive director, VESA. “Approval of the Quantum Data 882E for EDID compliance test is a welcome addition to this set of tools.”

The approved EDID compliance test solution offered by Quantum Data enables developers of DisplayPort monitors to perform EDID compliance tests. Users specify the capabilities of the monitor under test and then initiate the test series through the 882 front panel. When the tests have completed, the system issues a pass/fail result for each distinct Test ID. The result for each Test ID also includes the pass/fail criteria. Reports can be printed, viewed online and disseminated to other subject matter experts for analysis.

The EDID compliance test is the latest addition to a suite of DisplayPort solutions supported in 882E. The 882E has been approved by VESA for DisplayPort link layer compliance testing for both DisplayPort source and sink products. The 882E also supports link layer transaction logging which enables developers to monitor link layer transactions in real time during normal operation or during a link layer compliance test.
