Automated test enables quick verification of source handling of various EDIDs
Elgin IL - January 23, 2014 - Quantum Data™, a worldwide provider of video test equipment, today announced the availability of an optional automated EDID test for HDMI source devices and distribution devices. The test enables manufacturers of source devices and distribution gear to rapidly test their device’s response to a variety of EDIDs including HDMI 2.0 EDIDs.
The automated EDID test enables test engineers to specify the set of EDIDs used for testing. The test EDIDs can be commercial EDIDs, custom created EDIDs, even “test” EDIDs with known-anomalies. The automated EDID test is initiated through the front panel with the touch of a button or through the command line. Once initiated the test runs through all the EDIDs specified; no human intervention is required. Results are presented in a clear fashion indicating whether each EDID was handled properly—correct timing, VIC, color space, sampling mode received—based on the device’s output which is connected to the 780B HDMI Input port for analysis. The results can optionally be saved in a report for later viewing or dissemination to colleagues.
Quantum Data is well known in the industry for its EDID expertise. The 882 Video Test Instrument's EDID sink compliance test tool is approved for use in the HDMI, LLC Authorized Test Centers and is listed in the HDMI Compliance Test Specification. The 980 HDMI Protocol Analyzer offers an EDID compliance test utility for HDMI products and devices. Recently, Quantum Data launched an EDID Library offered to the industry free of charge.
